Digital Signage Newsletter June 2010 |
|
|||
|
|
|
||||
|
Dear
Customers, Over 100 years ago Oscar Wilde
wrote that “a cynic is a man who
knows the price of everything and the value of nothing”. Price competition as a business
differentiator apparently was important already back then but certainly did not
have the importance for companies it has today, where within seconds you can
check pricing and lead times of any product on the world market with just a
few mouse clicks. The only solution for this is
eliminating comparability! We have to offer solutions by combining hardware,
software and services to products that are no longer comparable to Asian mass
products. I hope this newsletter again will
give you some helpful suggestions! Sincerely yours, Werner Schubert Managing Director Data Display

3D
Monitors
|
|
|||
|
|
|
Few subjects currently are
attracting more interest in the Digital-Signage world than 3D. The Data Display Group has started cooperating with Swiss-based 3D Impact Media. The goal will be to develop
comprehensive 3D solutions which do not require the use of shutter glasses.
In particular the main focus will be: ·
converting existing monitors into 3D monitors by developing suitable
3D filters ·
producing 3D content based on 2D flims or 2D
pictures ·
providing the suitable 3D media player Alternatively we will offer our
own 3D monitors with an integrated
player. Within the next 4 weeks we will update you with further details
in a special 3D newsletter.

Digital Posters |
||||
|
|
|
When it comes to conveying an
advertising message to your audience posters and billboards are the perfect
choice. With our product line Digiposter you
can easily replace paper with TFT screens thus being able to show
significantly more information on the same space. Our Digiposters are digital
picture frames for professional use in Digital-Signage projects; they are
available in sizes 8“ to 82“. It is possible
to play back slide shows on a virtually unlimited number of posters. You can also
define individual display durations to each poster.
Operation is possible with and
without a network. The Digiposters are completely maintenance free and do not
require any adjustments (no PC, no Windows etc.). For this reason they are the
perfect fit for widely scattered installations, for example in stores or
branch offices. Digiposters are available with a housing or as separate parts for integration into
customized housings or other assembly. For more information please click here.

The (r)evolution of sunshine readability: Quicklogic
|
||||
|
Over
many years we have supplied passive optimized TFTs
for outdoor/sunshine applications (transflective,
bright LED-backlight, optical bonding etc.). These passive efforts are
expensive. Since years we have spent many thoughts on how to get similar or
even better results with reduced costs. For
more than two years we have been preparing a (r)evolution
regarding technology and pricing together with our partner Quicklogic (www.quicklogic.com).
Now we are ready for the launch! Since
the beginning of May we have been working in a world-wide exclusive
partnership with Quicklogic
to develop products for the electronic improvement of sunshine readability of
TFT displays. Key words are contrast improvement (VEE machine) and
Backlight-Power-Management (DPO machine). The
following TFTs are currently supported:
Full HD (1920
x 1080) will be available in Q1/2011.
Please
download a video form our website which was shot in our labs. The video shows
two identical CMO 15" TFTs driven with- and
without this revolutionary technology. This realistic video will inspire you!

Customer
project: Media-Players for gas stations
|
||||
|
At his point we again would like
to introduce one of our customer’s projects to you. A German gas station chain opened
one of Europe’s top state-of-the-art gas stations in In the shop windows monitors
featuring an integrated Media-Player
and a high-bright 46” TFT were installed, easily calling the
customers’ attention and providing information on the station’s
special deals and offers. At the cash desks inside the gas station
15.4” widescreen monitors are installed. Each player downloads its
content from a FTP server. As a special service the gas
station chain creates an automatic news
block with the latest news from around the world which is updated several
times a day via a RSS-feed. The Media-Player shows the news block in
between the commercials. After the first installation
turned out to be a success more stations are supposed to be equipped with the
same technology. Said Mr. Amberger,
Owner of Allguth gas stations: “...we are very happy. Good job by your staff! Shortly, I guess
next week, we will place the order for the next 5 gas stations.”
We would be proud to also manage
your project! For more information please contact use. |
